"The vocal expressions, in the
period of the 14e til the 16e, were multiple: madrigal, frottole, little
songs, villanelle, arie, etc... In this big variety of style and representation,
we have choosen what today we are identifying as "song":
only voice compositions with accompaniments, brief and effective, autonomous,
with a simple structure and a direct communication. The vocal songs
present on this CD are piece from composers of court, but as they were
easily understable, those pieces were also been sung certainly by the
common people constituting in that way, a good medium between cultured
music and popular music. The presence of Monteverdi give the rythm
to this recording: the instrumental passages(Balletto, Sinfonie, Ritornelli)intercalate
those vocal are issued from the Orphee.
We have also put few popolar lombard'songs, yet famous today but with
a faraway origin distant in the time (a version of "Donna lombarda" and "poisons
Him"). The main conductor of the themes of those songs is the
Love, musically interpreted by the composers and also represented,
here, under different aspects: "La Ninfa amorosa", where
the song of the time, often about pastoral ambiant were full of the
most beautifull nymphs, "La rugiada...lacrime d'amore"because
in one of this songs like others in the same period, the taste of the
tears and dews were intimaly mixturated and were each other reflect. At
the opposite, "Amore e attesa", "Amore e tormento", "Amore
e morte", "Amore e gioia" were the classical eternal
songs, used in the court as the ones now, that you can hear in the
night club."
