"We have chosen a first group of musical pieces that illustrates the theme of the love seen with the point of view of the dream and the desire. Then an another group of pieces that describes the contrasts of the love: the anger, the disappointment, the sneer, the suffering, the exaltation of the love.
The music has been composed by Venetian authors or authors that have worked in Venice. A lot of the musical forms of the epoch are represented: madrigals, air, songs, villanesche, villotte, Moorish, viniziane.
It is curious to notice as many of the authors that had significant charges within the ecclesiastical music and that therefore they were habitually devoted to the composition of mass and mottetti, were the same that composed the lightest and provocating villanesche or Moorish."
